The Archives of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George contain sources that might be useful to researchers pursuing themes, including but not limited to the following:

• Materials related to congregations in Germany, Brazil, Japan, Indonesia, Albania, the Netherlands, U.S. and others.
• Family
• Healthcare/hospitals/asylums
• Images
• Liturgy
• Maritime/oceans (records related to transportation via steamliner from Bremen, Germany, to New York Harbor)
• Material culture (artifacts)
• Missionaries
• Orphans
• Print culture (magazines, newspapers, pamphlets, etc.)
• Sickness and healing

Collections

Since the Archives is in the process of being organized and categorized, a partial listing of our Collections follows:

  1. Database of living and deceased members.
  2. Places where our Sisters have served since December 28, 1923, such as: Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, Brazil, Cuba, and others.
  3. Apostolates carried out at each location.
  4. Histories of each location (state/diocese/country/region).
  5. A variety of assets, such as photos, audio, video, artifacts.
  6. Correspondence from various levels of governance in the Church and in our Congregation. Many are in German, some of which have been translated.
